This white paper, prepared for the California Community Colleges Common Assessment Initiative Steering Committee, describes the work being conducted by the Multiple Measures Assessment Project. It reviews the context, requirements, and practice pertaining to the use of multiple measures in assessing and placing students in the California Community College system. It explores high school transcript data in depth, and presents and reviews predictive models and decision trees. This paper aims to inform the development of strategies to optimize the use of multiple measures in community college placement and advising.
