Equity Research & Social Justice Collaborative
Since 2022,The RP Group’s Equity Research & Social Justice Collaborative monthly discussion series has built connections and community among equity advocates focused on student-centered change. Funded by a generous grant from College Futures Foundation, this offering is focused on advancing equity research methods and inspiring positive student-focused change for racially minoritized students in the California Community Colleges system.
The RP Group recognizes that the racial equity activist role can be an isolating and traumatizing experience, particularly for practitioners with minoritized identities and experiences. Our goal is to build connections and community among CCC professionals who share racial equity as a central goal of their work to advance positive student-focused change at California community college campuses.
Participants experience a blend of direct instruction and semi-structured group discussion prompts focused on historical injustices, research methodologies, planning frameworks, and other key learnings to inform equity and racial justice praxis for IRPE professionals. Previous topics have included:
-

-
Deficit-Mindedness in Leadership & Research

Through these sessions, participants will:
-
Understand the origins and five foundational principles of QuantCrit;
-
Explore how systemic racism shapes data systems and how positionality informs research;
-
Challenge the assumption that numbers are neutral by interrogating statistical methods;
-
Learn strategies for integrating lived experience and community voice into research;
-
Apply practical tools for equity audits, policy review, and inclusive data visualization; and
