Overview
The Aspen Institute, in partnership with WestEd, the RP Group, and EdResults Partnership (ERP), is working to create a “college success dashboard” to provide consistent, high-level information on community college student momentum points and outcomes for Aspen’s Prize finalist visit teams, as well as their Presidential Fellows.
As a result of investigating and presenting relevant student momentum points, the Aspen Institute will be able to provide key college leaders with a clear set of data points they can use to evaluate student access and success.
The partners (ERP, RP Group, and WestEd) met with key staff from the Aspen Institute in Washington DC to outline the key component areas and data points to be populated for the “college success dashboard.” Following are the overarching data types that will be populated for the beta dashboard:
-
Completion and related outcomes
-
Transfer and bachelor’s degree attainment
-
Employment and earnings
-
Equitable outcomes for low-income students and students of color
-
Contextual information about the demographics, rates of poverty, and educational attainment levels in a college’s service areas
The RP Group’s involvement includes: co-development of the metrics and data specifications, and documentation and facilitation of user focus groups to support the development of the dashboard.
A virtual focus group with key Aspen leaders and partners is being planned to collect their feedback on the beta dashboard that was created based on the specifications outlined with Aspen to help inform the development and refinement of the dashboard.
