ASK Overview
Many California Community Colleges (CCC) are seeking guidance on how to implement new approaches designed to increase institutional effectiveness. To support these efforts, the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, the Institutional Effectiveness Partnership Initiative (IEPI), the RP Group, and a diverse array of strategic partners are teaming up to create the Applied Solution Kit (ASK). Current topic areas included in the ASK include Change Leadership, Data Disaggregation, Guided Pathways, Integrated Planning, and Strategic Enrollment Management.
Strategic Enrollment Management ASK Summary
Utilizing a definition of Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) established by a cross-disciplinary group of CCC professionals, the SEM ASK project team is creating a framework to document exemplary practices, processes, and strategies used by colleges, districts, and the CCC system to advance student access and success while ensuring fiscal viability of each respective college and district. Each SEM ASK concept, tool, and resource is designed to holistically guide and support the unique enrollment management planning and implementation considerations present at each CCC.
The RP Group's Work
The RP Group's role in this project has been to help develop a foundational SEM framework utilizing data collected from a CCC system survey of SEM practices, literature review, examination of case studies from the field, and collecting feedback from the SEM Advisory Committee comprised of leaders from across the CCC system. Within this framework, practitioners will find resource guides to support FTES and productivity calculations, CCC budget and reporting requirements, course scheduling supports, marketing, data tools, and high impact student success, retention, and persistence strategies.
All of this work is being organized with the goal of establishing and maintaining a sustainable community of practice designed to support current and future CCC practitioners.
