Rose Giordano, PhD is a dedicated advocate for equity in higher education, currently serving as Dean of Planning, Research and Institutional Effectiveness at Sacramento City College (SCC). With a strong background in experimental research and academic leadership, including roles as a Research Coordinator at the University of Pennsylvania, Vice President of the Folsom Lake College Academic Senate and Dean of Education and Health Professions at SCC, Dr. Giordano has consistently championed inclusive practices and support for the campus community using student-centric, data informed insights.
As a first-generation college graduate, Dr. Giordano understands firsthand the challenges students face and the transformative impact of mentorship. She emphasizes personal connection and advocacy in higher education, aiming to foster a supportive community among academic professionals in the Central Valley North.
Her leadership focuses on promoting effective research practices, supporting data-informed decision-making, and bridging silos across constituencies to enhance student success. Her vision includes expanding access to professional development resources and nurturing a culture of curiosity and purpose among educators. Her commitment to equity and inclusive education drives her efforts to create positive change and ensure all students have equitable opportunities to succeed.
Dr. Giordano holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences from MCP Hahnemann University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Nutrition Biology (emphasis in Physiology) from the University of California, Davis.
