 David Johnston currently serves as the Director of Information Technology/Chief Information System Officer for the Mendocino-Lake Community College District. His team provides technology services and support to the district’s faculty, staff, administrators and students. The move to online teaching, learning, and support services in 2020 provided an opportunity to make years of digital transformation in the district in a short period of time.

He spent 10 years as the Vice-President, Data Services for the Educational Results Partnership working on data and research projects with partners that included the Gates Foundation and the California Community College Chancellor’s Office.

Mr. Johnston previously served  as Adjunct Faculty for both Mendocino College and Santa Rosa Junior College, teaching courses in computer science focusing on networking and Internet. He has also served as a K-12 technology director, County Office of Education Grant Director, and is adjunct online faculty for Brigham Young University-Idaho.

He earned a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois. He has completed the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) certification from CITE, and the Chief Information Systems Officer (CISO) certification from CISOA.
