IEPI Applied Solution Kit -- Strategic Enrollment Management

ASK Overview

Many California Community Colleges are seeking guidance on how to implement new approaches designed to increase institutional effectiveness. To support these efforts, the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO), the Institutional Effectiveness Partnership Initiative, and the RP Group are teaming up to create a series of Applied Solution Kits (ASKs) on key approaches. Current topics include Integrated Planning, Data Disaggregation, and Strategic Enrollment Management, with new ASKs to be added as additional topic areas are developed. Go here for more information.

Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) ASK Summary

Using a definition of Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) established by a cross-disciplinary group of community college professionals, the project aims to create a framework that documents exemplary practices, processes, and strategies used by colleges, districts, and the system to address student access and success while at the same time ensuring the fiscal viability of their institutions.

Through these practices, a set of concepts, tools, and resources will be developed to help guide and support strategic enrollment management planning and implementation throughout the California Community College System.

The RP Group's Work

The RP Group's role in this project has been to help create the foundational framework, to conduct a statewide survey of SEM practices, to conduct a literature scan, and to establish a SEM Advisory Committee.

Other work has included developing a SEM purpose statement, a SEM Framework for organizing resources within the ASK, and a set of suggested resources for development. These resources will form the Applied Solutions Kit (ASK) that will be hosted on the Professional Learning Network.
