The RP Group

Dr. Mallory Newell

Dr. Mallory Newell leads the Multiple Measures Assessment Project (MMAP), the original Multiple Measures Assessment Project (MMAP) was a collaborative effort led by the RP Group and Educational Results Partnerships’ Cal-PASS Plus system to develop, pilot, and assess implementation of a statewide placement tool using multiple measures. Between 2012 and 2017, the MMAP team engaged with over 90 pilot colleges statewide to implement multiple measures assessment using high school performance to maximize student performance in college courses. With the shift towards AB 705 compliance, the MMAP Research team began working with the Community College Chancellor’s Office to provide support, research, and recommendations on maximizing students’ likelihood of completing a transfer level math or English course in one year, or an ESL course in three years. With the passage of AB 1705, the team transitioned yet again to support colleges in the implementation of non-STEM and STEM pathways that maximize the likelihood that a student will complete the math course required for their program of study.

Mallory is currently the Director of Institutional Research, Planning and Accreditation at De Anza College in Cupertino where she is the Chair of the College Planning Committee, the Accreditation Liaison Officer, part of the Student Learning Outcomes core team, and teaches American Government and Politics on a part-time basis. She previously worked for the California Postsecondary Education Commission (CPEC) in Sacramento as a Policy and Research Analyst. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and a Master’s degree in Political Science from California State University, Chico, as well as a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from California State University, Sacramento.
