Kristen Fong, PhD
Kristen Fong, PhD, currently leads the research project Through-the-Gate, which examines the transfer rate for California Community College students, determines who is and who is not transferring, and looks at why students who arrive at the transfer gate may not go through.
Dr. Fong’s postsecondary research has focused on policy-relevant topics related to California Community Colleges, from the Completion Agenda and its relation to developmental education, to examining statewide resource allocation models that may meet both equity and efficiency goals.
She earned her B.A. in Economics and Psychology from Claremont McKenna College, an M.A. in Psychology from California State University, Fullerton, and a Ph.D. in Urban Education Policy from the University of Southern California.
